Travel Like Moroccan Royalty
“We live in a wonderful world that is full of beauty, charm and adventure. There is no end to the adventures we can have if only we seek them with our eyes open.” – Jawaharial Nehru
I’m a pure “travel-holic”, as many of you are, and my taste for adventure has put me in some crazy situations. Although my younger years were about hostels and backpacks and the occasional camel ride in Siberia, I’ve grown to appreciate luxury while traveling. My Number One “want to be pampered during the adventure” location: The Royal Mansour in Marrakech. Considered one of the most luxuriously opulent hotels in the world, the Royal Mansour is a jewel box in the heart of Morocco famous for it’s breathtaking design and “we’ll treat you like royalty” service. Let’s take a peek, shall we?
La Table restaurant, one of three inside the hotel, is considered the “casual” dining experience, open all day and serving delicious Mediterranean cuisine.
Adjectives fail me. This lobby is beyond comprehension. I’m enamored with the fine tile work, the carved doors and the use of pattern to make the space feel warm and grand.
If you’re looking, this is where you’d find me: sipping a cocktail at the Chimney Lounge, gazing out the floor-to-ceiling windows that overlook the lush gardens. The windows magically double as a chimney for the fire, making the space elegant and cozy. Signature touches like golden leather-lined walls and inviting leather lounge chairs create a feeling of ultimate relaxation.
Silver tea service – but of course!
Every detail of this hotel is opulent and intricate, right down to the outdoor lanterns.
The ceilings at the Royal Monsour would make Michelangelo jealous. Gilded and carved and intricately tiled, they trace the hotel skies with patterns that bring an air of magic and mystery.
Here we are, at the Le Grande Table Marocaine restaurant inside the Royal Mansour, serving traditional Moroccan dishes in a breathtaking setting. I adore the soaring black ceiling and marble floors.
Luxuriate in the Wellness Lounge, which brilliantly combines modern design elements with traditioan Moroccan grandeur. Read a book. Chat with friends. Just take in the majesty of the view. Aahhhhhhh.
Hotel rooms are not hotel rooms at the Royal Mansour; they are “riads”. A riad is a Moroccan term for a home flowing elegantly into courtyards and gardens. Accommodations at the Royal Mansour do just that, elevating each stay to an extraordinary sense of privacy and personalized luxury.
Marble inlay graces the outer courtyard, making every inch of the hotel feel decadent.
”Each riad comes with its own attentive yet discreet butler” states the website. As if the private courtyard entrances, plush beds and exquisite design details weren’t enough!
Oh, how I love reporting on breathtaking design around the world but I hope to visit the Royal Mansour in person very soon! Airline tickets to Morocco are being gazed upon longingly and possible dates are being discussed, so stay tuned. Inspired to take your own trip to this jewelbox in Marrakech? Information is below:
